APP NAME AND LOGO USAGE REQUIREMENTS

The APP does not certify piercers, so wording such as “APP Certified” is never appropriate.  Also, while the APP provides education during our conferences, we do not train piercers, so “APP Trained” is never acceptable. Having a certificate of attendance to one of our conferences does not constitute certification or membership.

Business Members and Associate Members:

• GENERAL ADVERTISING
•   You must clarify in any advertisement that the membership applies to the individual and not to the studio. 
•   Suggested verbiage: "APP member/s on staff" or "piercer/s are members of the APP.”
• Never use verbiage such as “APP Approved” or “APP Certified.”
• The APP name or logo alone can appear in advertisements only if ALL PIERCERS who work in the studio are APP members.
• STUDIO SIGNAGE
• Studios that employ both APP members and non-members may display the APP name and/or logo on the interior or exterior of the studio under one specific condition: Member name(s) must be listed with the sign in a font no smaller than half of the logo size.
• If all piercers at a studio are APP members, the APP name and/or logo alone may be displayed.
• YELLOW PAGES ADVERTISING
• Members who use the APP name and/or logo in their Yellow Pages advertising are making a commitment to maintain their membership through the end of that print run.  Failure for the piercer(s) to renew membership, or for new piercers to obtain membership during the duration that the APP name or logo is used in the Yellow Pages will result in the studio being listed on the impostors page of the website, even if there were members on staff at the time that the ad was placed.
• BUSINESS CARDS
• The APP name or logo can only appear on an individual’s business card if they are an APP member.
• The APP name or logo should never appear on the business card of a non-member, even if there are other members working in the studio.
• The APP name or logo may be used on the studio’s business card ONLY if all piercers at the studio are APP members. New piercers must obtain membership to continue use of these business cards.
• If membership is terminated, business cards bearing the APP name and/or logo must not be used.
• WEB
• An annual logo (with current year) will be issued annually to all current members who have a complete file including copies of spore tests and current certifications. Logo usage for the website will follow all requirements for advertising listed above.
• Members whose files are not current (spore tests, etc.) will not receive the new logo until their file is updated and must discontinue use of the old logo. Please contact the secretary.
• Former logos in use must be replaced with the current logo.

Business Members At Large

      Due to the Business Member At Large category being created for members who do not have permanent employment as a piercer in a studio, the APP name and logo should not be used for any form of advertising or display. Business Members at Large may use the APP name or logo only with prior written permission from the Board of Directors. Patron Members may not use the APP name or logo in reference to piercing services or products of any kind.

I, _____________________________________ agree to adhere to the above APP Name and Logo Usage Agreement for the duration of my membership and agree to discontinue use of the APP name and logo if I discontinue my membership in the organization.

I also understand that I need prior written permission from the Board of Directors to use the APP name/logo in any manner that is not listed above. Failure to comply with the APP Name and Logo Usage agreement could result in suspension or revocation of membership and/or listing as an Impostor. I agree that the APP is not responsible for any expenses I may incur from misuse of the APP name/logo.
