Legislation
Legislation frequently changes. Please note that the information
contained on this page may not be the most current, though every
effort will be made to update regularly.
Legislative change will only happen in positive ways if we are
proactive. That means each of us must work to improve our own area
by staying informed and getting involved. The APP is here to help
with information, advice and experience. If you are anticipating
regulations in your area, or are experiencing difficulty with your
legislators, please do not hesitate to contact us at: outreach@safepiercing.org.
2005 BODY PIERCING RELATED BILLS AND LEGISLATION
Listed below are the 50 states and their regulations if any, with
the bill number, and website URL. To research the contents of the
bill(s), go to the website of the state. Type the bill number in
the search block and it will pull up the contents of the bill(s).
Once there, many states allow you to search for legislation by keywords.
Type in 'body piercing' or 'body+piercing.' (If it doesn't come
up, try 'tattooing.' Sometimes they are lumped together.) This method
also works for county and city searches, since many local areas
now have ordinances as well. If your local area and state both have
regulations, the stricter ones will apply.
If you need help with legislative action in our area or have any
additional sources of piercing related legislation, please contact
the Outreach Coordinator.
